My position reaches students ranging from Pre-K to 5th grade who are from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds and cultures.
We have students who are classified as homeless, ELL, children in foster placement, and children in military families with a parent away serving our country. We are a Title I school with over 80% of the students eligible for the free or reduced-price lunch program. Our school is part of a backpack program through the regional food bank that sends food home on the weekends.
I love greeting them in the mornings and seeing the sweet smiles as they start their school day. Many will remind me that it is their day to get to come to my class. I want to make sure that all are given positive experiences and opportunities in my classroom that will help them realize their potential and prepare them for the future they deserve.
My Project
Using these STEM kits will provide hands-on opportunities for my youngest students.
These sets will allow my eager learners to explore concepts in areas such as magnetism, motion, buoyancy, gravity, force, trajectory, balance, momentum, and engineering.
These exciting experiments and challenges some with easy to read cards with complete instructions and the materials are included in the boxes. I usually try to simplify and adjust the activities that are geared for my older students. The STEM Science Stations - K-Gr. 1 - Complete Set, the Create-A-Chain Reaction STEM Kit, and the Block Play STEM Early Learning Kit will encourage these little ones to use scientific inquiry skills, the design process, and problem solving during their own age appropriate experiences.
Please consider a donation to this project to help my Kindergarteners build their critical-thinking and problem-solving skills when they are in my STEM class!
