Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are between the ages of four and five years of age. They are just starting their school experience and they all have a great love of learning.
This age group requires small group instruction, creative play, visuals, and manipulatives.
Many of these students come to school without the basic foundational skills needed to succeed; not only academically, but social and emotional as well.
Every student learns through different modalities and it is important to provide a rich environment that is a component of the curriculum.
My Project
These materials will make a difference in my student's learning because it will allow them to develop science, engineering and math skills. They will use the Design & Build Water Blocks to make predictions about whether they will balance or fall.
The students will be able to discover that it is easier to balance objects on larger, flatter sides than on smaller, pointier, or rounder sides.
They will learn math and science words such as balance, stable, tip, predict, build, design, edges, and corners. We will use the whisks droppers and waterfalls to cause turbulence in the water and predict if this will unbalance the blocks.
The math and science board books are perfect to introduce math and science concepts across the curriculum.
