Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are curious, creative, and full of potential. They love exploring the world around them, asking big questions, and learning through hands-on experiences. What makes them truly special is their resilience and excitement to learn, even when faced with limited resources. Although our school does not have a dedicated science or STEAM class, my students thrive when given the chance to build, observe, experiment, and create during our interdisciplinary blocks.
This project will provide real science tools, STEM kits, engaging books, and interactive materials that bring science to life and help prepare them for our state's fifth-grade science test.
These resources will allow students to explore life science, physical science, and earth systems in meaningful ways—building models, conducting experiments, growing plants, and observing with microscopes. These hands-on learning experiences will not only deepen their understanding of scientific concepts but also increase their confidence and excitement about learning.
I also know how much my students love Pokémon. Many of them can’t afford trading cards or collector items, so I’m including Pokémon TCG boxes and packs as exciting incentives to reward those who show the most growth, dedication, and enthusiasm about learning. These rewards will encourage effort, perseverance, and joy in the classroom. As much as I love impacting my students’ lives—supporting them inside and outside the classroom, even on weekends—we simply don’t have the funding to give them the resources they truly deserve. Most of what they receive comes through the generosity of donors. As a Black male educator, this work is deeply personal. Your support helps me continue creating life-changing experiences for my students and building strong connections with their families. Thank you for helping make a difference.
