I teach 19 very innocent, caring, and excited second graders. My students come to school everyday ready to learn, regardless of what is happening at home. Most of my students come from low-income homes and do not have many opportunities to expand their learning after school, therefore our days are jam packed with learning. I have a variety of ESL students, students that are below grade level, and some above grade level. Our diverse classroom teaches us more than textbooks ever could!
Our school received a grant for each grade level to have a set of STEM bins. However, I was added to the second grade team making it very difficult to share 6 STEM bins with five different classes. I am a true STEM enthusiast and would love for my students to be able to have STEM bins at their fingertips throughout the day. Students would get the opportunity to work collaboratively, problem solve, engineer, and create with the STEM bins. The bins will give the students a creative outlet, and give them some freedom to create without worrying about being “right” or “wrong.”
