My students need clear pencil boxes, and miscellaneous equipment to create STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) centers for hands-on learning.
I have the distinct pleasure co-teaching a kindergarten classroom of 30 students with another teacher. We have been extremely grateful to be around such adorable kids who are eager to learn.
Kindergarten is where the MAGIC happens.
A lifelong love and passion for learning and building lasting relationships begin in Kindergarten.
In Kindergarten students are receiving the foundation that the rest of their education will build on. Our students take learning in stride and love being introduced to new exciting topics. They thrive with hands-on learning and developmental play.
Our students perform at all different levels from beginning readers to proficient readers. No matter the level, together we work as a family to build each other up. It is one of the biggest joys to watch them understand a new topic for the first time. These “Aha” moments are everything! There is nothing sweeter than the innocent heart of a Kindergartener.
My Project
STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) Bins are an ideal hands-on solution for early finishers, morning work, centers, fine motor practice, indoor recess, or positive reinforcement of behavior. They are also a creative and developmentally appropriate form of engineering for elementary students. STEM is important because it pervades every part of our lives. By exposing students to STEM and giving them opportunities to explore STEM-related concepts, they will hopefully develop a passion for it.
STEM Bins are plastic school boxes filled with an engineering manipulative of your choice, such as Legos, pattern blocks, base ten blocks, unifix cubes, toothpicks and playdough, or popsicle sticks with velcro on the ends.
The boxes also contain small sets of task cards on metal rings that picture a variety of basic engineering structures. They use the materials in the box to construct as many different structures on the cards as they can.
