Help me give my students a set of STEM bins to develop their creativity and activate different parts of their brains by exploring building with things like Squigz and Waffle Blocks.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
STEM bins are helpful in giving students opportunities to build problem solving and engineering skills. These types of activities are open ended activities, allowing students to explore and get creative in ways we don't often get to for traditional subjects like reading and math.
I teach Special Education, and one of my goals for my students this year is to help them explore the world around us using different parts of our brains.
The STEM bins will be filled with several different activities we can use throughout the week to engage our brains in new ways, to get creative, to try something new.
The STEM bins are also helpful in building problem solving skills. Many of my students struggle with different social skills. I intend to use the STEM bins as an avenue to help students build relationships with their peers as they work together to build and create with the objects in our bins.
