I teach a diverse group of 3rd graders in a Title 1 school in a military and transient town. Overall I teach about forty students between two different classes who are hard-working and devoted to achieving set goals made throughout the course of the year. These students love to come to school because of the opportunities they receive as they may not all have these opportunities at home. Most of all they love to learn through play and hands-on learning.
Students will have the opportunity to engage in science and math with more hands-on activities. Students will be challenged to think critically when developing models. These items will be featured in STEM bins during stations that will allow self exploration and guided discovery. These STEM bins will be changed frequently so new discovery and constant engagement will be achieved. In addition to these bins, I will create real life open ended scenarios or questions for students to think critically and out of the box. These science bins will open many doors for students to expand their futures further than they would ever have imagined!
