My second graders have the potential for big learning. They are talented in many ways. Their young curiosity and questions about science, reading and mathematics are evident daily in our grounded common core curriculum. One piece missing is student access to classroom technology.
I have twenty-one 2nd graders in my high poverty, multicultural, diverse classroom.
Almost half of my students are English Language Learners. Many of my students have no access to technology at home. They all come to school ready and excited to learn every day.
My Project
I am requesting 3 touch screen laptops, 3 headphones headsets with microphone and 6 children's styluses. With our new laptops, my students will have the power to access touch screen technology. This will make a difference in student learning outcomes. This new technology will foster building basic skills in math, reading and science. Students may play educational games, read interactive books, practice math skills, draw pictures, and research science projects. The possibilities for touch technology use in the classroom are as endless as the quest for knowledge.
By funding this project, you will be fostering bright young talent for the future workforce.
The laptops will capture the attention and enthusiasm for learning in my students. BIG learning awaits. Thank you!
