This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My special education class consists of students ranging from preschool to 2nd grade. They are all diverse children that have specific needs and interests, all the while sharing an excitement to come to school every day and participate in the engaging lessons I have planned for them! My students all come from challenging socio-economic backgrounds, and I would like to be able to provide them with the necessary equipment and support that they need. Our school is a large elementary school with a very supportive Special Education team, who want to provide students with the resources to achieve the best, both academically and socially! Unfortunately, our resources are limited and we do not always have the funds to provide all materials.
My Project
The materials listed in this project will help my students have an engaging experience with STEM-related ideas while at home. Many of my students last year had issues with focus because of the noise in their surroundings, which is why I am looking to get headphones for each student. Also, I am asking for a couple of different books that are STEM-related, and will go with lessons that we will cover in our fall semester! The last thing on our list is a digital class pet, which students can manipulate through coding and critical thinking! A class pet that can be manipulated in a digital way is perfect for online learning!
