Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are bright and energetic second graders. They love to explore the world they live in through hand-on experiences in our school garden and the gardens in our community. I love seeing how engaged they are when they get to use their senses to listen, smell, touch, observe, and draw life in the garden.

My second graders thrive when they are given opportunities to experience the world in a hands-on way, including being able to use tools, just like real scientists and artists do!

These budding botanists will to be able to observe and draw the plants and flowers in our school garden close up. These future entomologists will be able to sketch the insects that they see on field trips and in our community.

My students will be able to use our new class button maker and vinyl cutter to make their flower and insect art more permanent and long-lasting! They will be able to turn their one-of-a-kind artwork into buttons, magnets, stickers, and more. At the end of the semester, our second graders will share their flower and insect art with their families, friends, and our larger school community at our exposition of learning.
