Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Since COVID, some kids have not been exposed to the stuff they normally would have been. I notice many areas in which they are lacking skills - STEM being one of them. This is a great opportunity for my students to get the exposure they need. Each of the STEM items I have requested will engage either the SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, or MATH part of their brain. There are multiple forms of build blocks and construction activities so they can see how things are built and put together. This helps them understand what will stay together and what will fall apart. There are a variety of magnetic items so they can understand how magnets work and why they only stick together when the polarity is correct. I have also included gardening as one of our science standards in teaching them parts of a plant and what plants need to grow. I have requested wobble stools for those few kiddos that need to move when they learn. Not everyone can sit still and learn.

Not only are these things great for their brain, but it also helps with fine motor skills.

In order to keep my room neat and tidy, I have requested bins to keep all these marvelous activities organized. When students learn to problem solve on their own it opens up their imagination and the possibilities are endless. Please consider making this possible for my wonderful kiddos.
