This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are creative, thoughtful and very inquisitive! They are leaders, willing to take risks and look for solutions to everyday problems. I teach in a Title I Community School in which over 60% of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch. My class is a multi-age, multicultural class of gifted and talented students who have a wide range of needs and abilities.

My students love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions.

Our school has included more of these bright, talented students, including Kindergarten through 2nd-grade students, and are excited to see the variety of projects that will be created with their out of the box thinking.

My Project

My students will use these base platforms and the LEGO bricks that have already been donated to our class to create community settings. Through partnering and teamwork, students will develop leadership skills. These gifted and talented students will even be able to use these materials to design and create their own cities. This project is focused on my Kindergarten through 3rd-grade students.

With these LEGO resources, my students will collaborate to explore and create buildings that can be found in their community.

This STEM project will require communication and teamwork. It will encourage students to build on each other's strengths. Students will use their critical thinking and problem-solving skills as they work through trial and error and revision in order to design and create amazing community settings.
