My middle school students are hardworking, bright and amazing learners of STEM. They are excited to use problem solving skills and coding while developing their love for computer science. My students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with over one half of our students are from low income families. Our school is an ethnically diverse school in Southwest Las Vegas. My students have a variety of learning styles that are as varied as they are.
My Project
With the new release of LEGO's new kit Spike Prime, coding has become even more fun. I would love to get a new kit to bring to into the classroom and to my First Lego League Team to provide a new learning experience using code.
I would love to give my students more opportunities to use coding and have hands on learning experiences in STEM.
As a STEM teacher, I try to provide as many learning experiences using coding, as possible. I am also the coach of a First LEGO League Robotics Team at Feritta Middle School. The Spike Prime is the future of FLL. Therefore, I want my team to have hands on practice with the device. Overall, this device will be beneficial to all of my STEM 7th graders that come to learn with me throughout the day and after school. Thank you for giving me this opportunity to get this latest technology into the hands of my curious students.
