Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students attend a Title I school in sunny Arizona. The majority of our students speak English as a second language, and 100% of our students qualify for free lunch. Many of them have experienced the difficulties and trauma that can come from living in poverty and struggle to focus on school as a result. That said, our students are some of the brightest, most creative kids you can imagine.

They are becoming quite the avid students, but unfortunately, many of our students don't have access to computers and the internet at home.

As a result, they are not as tech savvy as they need to be to compete in the real world. They struggle with basic skills like typing, researching, annotating, or solving equations digitally. This year, we were fortunate to qualify for the Verizon Innovative Learning grant which enables us to provide students with 1:1 iPads to students. With your help, we hope to increase our students' tech literacy and maximize their use of iPads through the use of styluses!

My Project

We are requesting a stylus for each students. Having styluses would better enable us to make the most of our iPads' capabilities!

With a stylus in hand, learning can be more efficiently modeled on a graph or math problem, annotations made more clearly in reading, and artistic renditions made with finer attention to detail.

A stylus opens up a whole new world of possibilities!

In addition, using a stylus will decrease the spread of germs in our classroom as fewer fingertips touch screens and screens stay cleaner. Definitely a huge benefit these days! Any donation, no matter how small would be greatly appreciated as we work to increase our use of these magnificent devices!
