My Students

The students I have the privilege to teach are both bright and extremely curious about the world around them. I teach the entire grade-level science, and I have a very active classroom.

I am a teacher at a charter school, which means that my students come to me from all over the county.

Our school is a school of choice so my students are very excited about the education they are receiving. I want to give them every opportunity to make as many memories as they can in my class. All the while, they are learning so much and don't even realize it!

My Project

These books will be used in so many different ways in my science classroom! The books can be used through multiple lessons in our Life Science unit and well as Physical Science unit on electricity!

No matter how old children become, they still love reading aloud!

Integrating reading to my science standards is so beneficial. The characters in many of these books are their age, which gives them a strong connection to the content.

They also get a, "Hey! I can do that, too!" attitude which motivates them in STEAM projects. STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. Scholars get so excited about their learning when a STEAM project is involved. These characters can inspire them to use problem-solving skills to turn everyday, ordinary things into models that connect to our science learning target.

"Out of sight, out of mind." This is a quote that I believe is so true for books in the classroom. Having them piled on a shelf won't motivate students to take a look. When books are cleverly displayed, students want to explore what's inside. I would use the acrylic wall shelves to display the books that go along with our current science unit to encourage scholars to take a look and get a deeper understanding of the content!
