Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are English as a second language learners who are growing up in one of the poorest areas in South Central Los Angeles, and many families struggle to meet their basic needs. They all receive free breakfast and lunch, and we also offer a hot supper immediately after school to all children in the community.

My students are eager to learn and full of intellectual curiosity.

They are struggling to overcome the obstacles that families living in extreme poverty have to deal with.

My students have the potential to achieve so much, if they were just provided with the same situations, materials, and life experiences that middle and upper class children are exposed to, their lives would be greatly improved.

My Project

These new Chromebooks will help my students learn to incorporate technology into their daily lives. They will have the information they need to be successful at their fingertips!

Technology is an important aspect of the STEAM model in which our school is striving to become a part.

Recently in small groups, I have taught my students how to make their own Google slideshows and they are in love with the process! It is the cutest thing that you have ever seen to watch them sit down and research a topic to make multiple slide shows. They have also learned to share them with me and at least one slide show a day shows up in my email!
