Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school site is located in a low-income, rural farming community. At our school, 100% of our students qualify to receive free or reduced-price lunches.

Many of my students are significantly below grade level in reading making it hard to access grade-level information.

Within this community are many shining stars who can make themselves great if given the right opportunities. We have recently begun a 1:1 program with iPads, and this is an amazing opportunity for this area where most homes do not have access to computers or the internet.

My Project

My classroom currently has a broken 3D printer that we have never been able to use. I would love for my to be able to design and print their own projects. Even the students at home can make a design and send it to me to be printed.

Modeling is a necessity in science classes.

In most cases my students are only able to hand draw the models they want to represent. I am hoping to be able to take these models a couple of steps further with a 3D printer and a cutting machine.

Together these tools open up limitless opportunities for my students to demonstrate their learning while using both technology and art. These truly are STEAM classroom tools.
