Help me give my students the opportunity to have fun while learning about animals, landscapes, landforms, and art techniques through a fun watercolor pencil project.
I LOVE that DIS students have become more creative over the past years as art has reentered their curriculum. This opportunity not only allows for students to get hands on projects throughout the year, it is also a great way to introduce STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, ART, Math) lessons for students to make life connections through their artwork. DIS students excel when given the opportunity to have versatile and manipulative art projects! Students at DIS haven't always had the opportunity to walk into an art room and use their imagination, and with no budget to fund art, students have to be creative at DIS.
Like all students, children learn best through self discovery and the ART ROOM is the best place to incorporate multidisciplinary curriculum.
Previously having taught a homeroom classroom, I know the pressure that is put on the individual teacher to get kids to make positive gains in learning, and I am going to push students to make those gains through cross curricular, hands-on art projects! I have seen the progress these children have made, and with new exciting materials, ... they can't wait for ART!
My Project
Our school does not get funding for our art program. Every year I have to volunteer my time to do fundraisers during the school year and hold art camps over the summer. I need some help!
Students at Doctors Inlet have voted, and they would love to learn about landscapes, landforms, and the biology of animals through art.
I hope that this project gets funded so that the students can explore art standards and art techniques while learning about science.
Every year I always ask the students what they remember most about the whole school year ... it is always hands on creative projects. Help make this a memory as the students get to take home all of the art work they have created and it reminds them what they were able to learn through art.
