Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students never seize to amaze me with their resilience and enthusiasm to learn. I teach a Preschool for All Learners class. My students have developmental delays (Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Specific Learning Disabilities, and Down Syndrome), with different strengths and abilities. They are a mixture of inquisitive minds and artistic talent, and just love to learn.

My Project

To lessen the financial burden on my students' parents, I have set up most of the projects and activities to include items that my students have at home such as using utensils to sort, making our own playdough to create structures with sticks collected from outside, and using different grains to practice writing as well as measuring and comparing. My students' parents go above and beyond to provide the items that their children need. I want to help give my students equal access to non-food, non-perishable and reusable items to learn, create, and explore. The magnet building tiles, STEM tube locks and pipes, and gears will provide my students with materials to use their imaginations to create different structures and learn how to connect objects to make something new. The sensory toys, water beads, and kinetic sand will give my students an opportunity to explore the differences in texture and provide them with sensory stimulation. With the art materials, my students will be able to let their creativity flow. Using the storage containers, the materials will be packaged for each student and will be used at home and school (when we return to in-person learning).
