My Students

My school is a rural, Title I school in Tennessee where poverty is high and experiences are limited. These students are pushed every day to achieve high levels of academic excellence and they work hard daily to achieve with our rigorous expectations.

"It's not who I am but what I do that defines me" is a quote on my Batman door that students see every time they enter and exit my room.

I believe in my learners and want to help them become excellent readers and writers.

My Project

My school offers bi-monthly free choice STEAM classes for grades 3-5. Being an art fanatic, I always introduce my group to different artists and their style of work.

The art canvases and paint will be used to create our versions of "The Starry Night," while the plaster will be used to develop a self-portrait like VanGogh.

Students will practice some creativity in designing a mask of their face with the casting material and will paint and decorate it using various materials. Replicas of Vincent VanGogh's artwork will be shown such as "VanGogh's Self-Portrait" and a replica of "The Starry Night."
