Help me give my students McCulloch MC1275 Heavy-Duty Steam Cleaner so they can come to my classroom feeling safe because I have sanitized it at the end of each day.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am an ESL teacher at an elementary public school in Memphis, TN. We are a Title I school with a total of 53 active ESL students this school year. We are all at home doing remote teaching and learning but that will all change in January as some of us will be back in the school building.
Students at our school have been doing distance learning since August 2020 and even with the reopening plans we need to each to our part that safety is prioritized at the school.
The fluidity of the situation has caused a lot of stress, anxiety, and insecurity among the students.
Half of my students are returning to school, while the other half are staying home to continue virtual learning. However, all of them are required to come to school to take the WIDA (ESL test) and TNReady (state testing). Students and families are aware of this but the uneasiness and reluctance to come to school is still imminent across the board.
My Project
McCulloch MC1275 Heavy-Duty Steam Cleaner will naturally deep clean without the use of harsh chemicals using hot, pressured steam to eliminate grease, grime, stains, and mold within my classroom walls when I return to face to face instruction in the next few weeks.
With proper application, the steam will sanitize by removing germs and bacteria that children are not going to pick up and take home with them.
I know our custodians will be hard at work cleaning every nook and cranny within the school walls but this will be added protection for me and my students. Plus it will help alleviate the workload of our janitors.
