The students that I teach at Osage Creek Elementary are involved in a unique style of re-imagined learning and personalized learning. With these needs and specific skills that need to met, a variety of instructional methods and styles need to be present. This includes exploration, play, using technology, cooperative learning and the use of manipulatives and projects. Students also have a strong STEAM learning environment and Arts Integration. They are encouraged to think out of the box to discover their own learning and sharing with others. Learning opportunities don't just take place in the classroom, but throughout our community and other areas of the school.
My Project
With the importance of arts integration and the necessity of STEAM skills being on the rise, students in my class are in need of a variety of materials and items to support and encourage this type of learning and thinking. Exploitation, learning and discoveries are crucial to a child who is developing, but it also helps them gain social skills. Through blocks, puzzles, interlocking cubes, art supplies and other sensory items, students can learn problem solving skills, while also encouraging them to use their imagination. This is a type of learning that is often being replaced by TV and other media outlets, so it is important that this type of hands-on play and learning takes place in the school.
