My Project

Our elementary school has embraced the tenets of STEAM education, including using this concept to foster social-emotional learning (SEL). As the STEAM educator, I have been working to increase access to materials available in the Media Center during STEAM class. I have instituted a rolling cart system that allows materials to be accessible in any classroom, especially during indoor recess and "soft starts" to a child's school day. Teachers and children are embracing this experience beyond my expectations! I am seeking funding to add more materials to each cart, which I call our STEAM Rollers.

By mobilizing more STEAM materials, we can reach a more significant number of our student population, creating equitable access to learning opportunities that impact student achievement and wellness.

Cultivating collaboration with my colleagues is a priority to the STEAM Rollers' success, as we encompass our school's efforts to focus on teamwork, mutual respect, problem-solving, empathy, and reflection. When teachers utilize the STEAM Rollers, they will be helping to develop each child's social-emotional skills through engaging real-world, hands-on learning experiences.
