STEAM: Restaurant Day!

Help me give my students the chance to bring their menus to life by allowing them to serve food from their menu to our guest. Students will design their menus based on the food choices.

My Project

**Bringing Decimals to Life: A Restaurant Simulation Project**

This project allows students to take their understanding of decimals and apply it to the real world.

Students will design a menu for their own restaurants, integrating art by creating a logo using Canva. This creative process brings their ideas to life and makes learning more engaging.

The second part of the project is where I need your support.

Students will invite their families to dine at their restaurants. They will take orders using receipt books and then head to the “kitchen” to retrieve the food. We need a variety of play food types to allow students to create diverse menus. Each restaurant will serve a different type of cuisine: pastries, Italian, Mexican, American, and more. The play food will be used to serve their guests, bringing authenticity to the simulation.

This restaurant simulation allows students to see how money plays an important role in the food industry. With the requested guest check books, they will calculate totals, add tax, and subtract decimals when giving back change. This hands-on experience not only reinforces decimal skills but also teaches real-world financial literacy.
