Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our community is rich in diversity and allows for students to engage with many other cultures. My class is full of 5th grade students who want to learn and have the materials that will allow them to do so. My students range from students new to this country to students who have been attending school since TK.
The class consists of over 75% English language learners and all students receive free lunch and breakfast in the classroom.
My Project
My students must keep up with the latest advancements in education to spark an interest in reading. Education is changing every single day, and so are the interest of my students. Students in my classroom like to read about science and art. My schools library does not have enough books about their interests!
So in order to pique the students’ interest I want give all students access to STEAM texts while also giving them a comfortable seating area.
They will also be able to choose books that interest them. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading.
