STEAM Powered Genius

My students need a 3D printer and filament to bring their STEAM dreams to life.

My Students

A key component in STEAM education is enabling students to unlock the power of their imaginations. "Everything you can imagine is real," Pablo Picasso said, adding a 3D printer to our Makerspace would allow that to be a reality for my students.

Part of closing the digital divide includes showing students how they can best use technology.

These resources will truly show my students the power of STEAM! My students will be able to use the the 3D printer to bring their CAD creations to life. The various colors of filament, including dissolvable filament which allows for more complex designs, will enable my students' art and engineering knowledge to truly come to life.

My Project

Our students study art, engineering and design. The 3D printer with two extruders will allow our students to fully exercise their creativity as they bring colorful and complicated designs to life. A 3D printer that has two extruders could use two colors, or, print a dissolvable support structure, allowing for more complex parts. The "dissolvable" filament, HIPS - high impact polystyrene can be dissolved with d-limonene.

To quote Mae Jemison, "The difference between science and the arts is not that they are different sides of the same coin even, or even different parts of the same continuum, but rather, they are manifestations of the same thing.

The arts and sciences are avatars of human creativity." These resources help allow my classroom to become a place where my students can bring this quote to life.
