This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach 22 AMAZING 5&6 year old students!

Most of my students are English Language Learners from a low-income community.

My students are smart and eager to learn. They have faced adversity from the beginning of the school year when our community was hit by the Merrimack Valley gas explosions. This devastation left many of my students displaced from their homes, living with relatives, hotels, or in trailers until they were able to return months later.

Even so, my students have been able to strive academically. Just like other children their age, they love to learn through hands-on activities while exploring and problem-solving. My students’ drive, motivation and eagerness for new learning opportunities is truly inspiring.

My Project

STEM allows students to learn through fun, hands-on, and engaging opportunities. These materials will allow my students to use their imagination and inspiration to think outside the box. Our classroom block play area can greatly benefit from being revamped with new and engaging materials to allow their imaginative and creativity to flourish.

I know that by incorporating STEM into our classroom it will help my students increase their critical thinking and problem-solving skills through a hands-on approach.

Help my students build language skills, gain more self-confidence, and practice team-building skills, while also encouraging more girls to explore STEM fields in a fun environment.
