This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

HCDC is an underfunded public preschool in East Oakland. 100% of enrolled families are at or under the local poverty level. Despite our limited means, the students at HCDC are creative, playful, and so fun to spend the day with. They are always finding new ways to play and learn together. But right now, we don't have enough materials to rotate their play centers or create complete art projects.

We want to enrich our underfunded classroom with novel toys and materials to expand our students' thinking and learning.

Loose parts, art supplies, and engineering toys will be used daily for students to experiment, create, and design. Our students especially need all the chances they can get to think like future engineers and problem solvers that we know they are! Help us enhance the learning and development of our city's youth and invest in the community's future!
