My Students

We all have a story to tell, and my students are no different: they have very compelling stories. At our alternative high school, we have students who have lost parents, students who have a desire to better their lives through education, students who are the sole breadwinners for their families, students who are incredibly smart yet have not been able to attend school because they have needed to take care of siblings. There are so many stories.

Our students are here because they want to graduate from high school and continue to improve their lives through education, training, and employment.

They have plans for the future that include being self-sufficient, contributing members of the community. They just need a chance to get the education that can help them achieve their dreams.

My Project

Our students have been practicing creating circuits, the principals of Ohm's law, and computer programming in our introduction to technology and engineering class. The students love the projects we do in this class.

The Adruino Starter Kit will help students connect the ideas of circuits, Ohm's Law, electrical engineering, and programming in a challenging and creative way.

By using Arduino, we can actually program lights and motors to do what we want, not just turn them on or off with switches. This will enhance the already clever and exciting projects our students have created and allow them to see the practical uses of programming, circuits, and Ohm's law.
