My students need Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) experiences outside the classroom that they wouldn't otherwise have.

My Students
Funny, loving, silly, hardworking are just a few terms to describe my fourth graders. I work with many different students; however, I do have the special education cluster. For this reason I work closely with the special education teacher. The students have many different abilities and backgrounds. Nonetheless, these fourth graders come to school everyday ready to learn despite their background.
Many of the students at my school depend on the school for food, clothes, academics, and me.
My students attend a Title I school where nearly all of them receive free food and depend on me. Almost all the student receive free breakfast and lunch. Some of my student receive take home food for the weekends. Also, these students receive free coats and shoes. I will never forget when one of my students received their free coat and said, "I am so happy because now I will be warm." Despite these difficulties my students overcome everyday, they work hard in academics and character. They work on building character and values while learning. They know they will be safe and successful at school.
My Project
Students will not only explore the museum, but also they will get to complete a lab about circuits and energy transfer.
The students, who come from a low-income school, will gain hands-on Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) experiences by visiting the Discovery Museum.
This is important to my students in many ways. The students have been learning about energy, engineering, technology, and other sciences that are found at the museum. In addition, the students here live in a low-income area, which affects what the students experience. Many of my students have only been to "home," school, and possibly at the store. Also, my group of students range in abilities.
I have a cluster of students with special needs, students who speak other languages, students who are gifted, and student who all strive for progress in their education and life. This field trip would allow the students to gain educational and life experiences that they would not otherwise have. Therefore, thank you in advance from myself, my students, and community!
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
