My Students

Welcome to our school! We are a small agricultural community in the Willamette Valley. Our students come from a range of backgrounds though for the most part families have been in this community for generations.

Whatever their history, our students love to be here.

That is in part due to the community of caring, dedicated educators who take pedagogical risks to make learning rigorous and relevant for students. As a staff, we have massaged resources and gotten creative with teaching loads and scheduling in order to offer our students classes such as Robotics, Innovations, World Arts and Cultures, and Ceramics. We love to be here, too!

My Project

As an evolving organism, our school is constantly trying to create authentic learning experiences. In conjunction with an emphasis on Project-Based Learning, we are thrilled to have introduced the STEAM program into our school this year. With a range of tools at their disposal, students collaborate to design, create, revise and utilize their projects. Having a planer would help us to expand the potential projects that students could envision and help to enhance the overall quality they are able to achieve.

A planer would teach our students resourcefulness and allow for more creativity and flexibility in their designs.

With a planer, students have more control over their creative projects by being able to adjust the height of the wood. It can also unleash the natural beauty of wood by controlling the surface texture. On a design level, students can glue together various pieces and run them through the planer for a mosaic or veneer effect. On a practical level, we would be able to accept a wider range of donations in the form of reclaimed wood, not only imparting the value of resourcefulness and repurposing but helping us to conserve funds from our consumables budget.
