STEAM: Creativity and Play Within the Classroom

My Students

My students are very creative and fun to be with daily. I teach at a STEM school where Project Based Learning is endless and hands-on. My students come from all types of backgrounds and teaching them that computer science is something that they can pursue in the future is what I love most about my job!

My Project

The activities, projects, and materials that I am requesting are for our school's new maker space. I want our students to love this space as much as I will. Creativity and play go hand in hand, and that is what I want this maker space to represent in our building.

My vision is that each week my students will get to explore different materials, and from those materials, we will do different STEM challenges.

The different materials that I have requested will go towards helping with those challenges. One of the main goals I have for my students while using these materials is to figure out how to design, and then make those designs better and better each time we do challenges. I have designed and bought many STEM lesson plans for my classroom, and these materials will be the hands-on part of the lessons.

By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student creativity and play, but you will also help them understand the Engineering Design Process, which is what I will be putting a major emphasis on. With all of the materials that I am requesting, I am wanting to make our students love to come into my classroom each and every day. All materials will be on display in the classroom and will be within student reach so they can explore on their own.
