Steam Class Leads to Cte Future Career Success

Help me give my students an xTool F1 Laser Engraver and accessories so my students can expand on their merchandising expertise. They've learned how to create logos to create products. Laser engraved items would make a great addition.

My Project

This summer I taught a business basics Lemonade Challenge class for 4th-6th graders where they earned money, rented classroom space, filled out invoices to purchased materials, curated recipes, built mobile apps, created uniforms and more. It was so successful I was asked to have my students present to other educators and administrators the process they went through at an upcoming conference. This has motivated me to add to their repertoire.

I’m asking for an xTool F1 Laser Engraver and accessories for my students to take their designs and logos to the next level of merchandise production.

Although my students did everything with fake money, they learned a lot about budgeting, setting price points, designing, getting consumer feedback and more. When talking to my elementary students, many of them aren’t thinking of college or technical schools, they want to live the “hustle”.

I want to teach my students that there are low cost ways to start up a business such as using Google Slides or Inkscape to create designs, then working up to paid design programs such as Canva (which has a free version) and InDesign. Then taking those designs to create a multitude of products from keychains and coasters which we already make in class, to hopefully being able to laser cut their designs onto tumblers, metal jewelry, leather and other materials.

If the hustle is their path, I want them to understand that it will take hard work and dedication, but at the same time have the best advantage and skills to see what STEAM opportunities are out there for them and their creative minds if they’re able to master the financial and product side of entrepreneurship.
