My students need a Real-World STEM challenges and STEM Stories Paperback Library to help build higher order thinking. This will help them work in small groups to create a positive classroom community.

My Students
My Students are fun loving and eager to learn. They have a lot of energy. The students in my second grade class are part of the gifted and talented program. They have different learning styles and are constantly thinking outside the box. Second graders are such an interesting bunch because they are little more independent and ready to work.
This year will be filled with inquiring minds that are ready to work.
I am hoping to create an environment of love and respect in our classroom.
My Project
This year I would like to incorporate STEM challenge Friday. Friday is a great day to wrap up the week of learning. Children can get into a routine of working on a STEM project. STEM is a great way to see students shine outside of the regular learning day. It helps promote team work, questioning, conversation and imagination. Our school incorporates 1 unit of STEM a year. I am hoping to help the students learn more about building and becoming engineers this year. The read aloud books will help build background knowledge and then leads them to complete the hands on activity. This will also help to build a nice community with the parents to come in and visit our class to see the work of the students.
