My students are amazing! As a Pre-K teacher, I am blessed to be able to influence my students' educational experience from day one. Their curiosity, eagerness, and imaginations are unparalleled. I want to be able to help them reach their fullest potential and set them up for a lifetime of the same curiosity, eagerness, and imagination that they arrive with.
I want to guide them to explore, plan, experiment, and think critically about the world around them.
My students come from a Title I school, and 99% of my students are minorities. This will be my 3rd year in my classroom, and I want to give these children more experiences that they may not have otherwise had. I also want to take full advantage of my ability as a Pre-K teacher to provide them with open-ended activities, free play materials, and ample time to explore with them.
Any contribution to our project will be GREATLY appreciated!
STEM/STEAM learning is that which incorporates Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math into classroom activities and gives children the opportunity to explore physical, real-life concepts in the world around them. These activities are engaging and exciting, allowing children to plan, investigate, and record their findings through play, experimentation, and trial-and-error.
Research shows that participation in STEAM activities is correlated with higher-order critical thinking skills, confidence, resilience, and later academic success.
It is a foundation that I would love to provide for my students.
This is my 3rd year teaching Pre-K and I currently have incorporated STEAM activities into other centers, but I would love to give my students a more designated work space in addition to those. The Mobile STEM station will be used as an independent center in our classroom during our free choice center time. The children will be able to use STEAM materials and the design kits in the center for free play, experimentation, and exploration in addition to "challenges" I will prepare and place there for them to complete.
