S.T.E.A.M Camp 2025 PreK-5th

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our High School Juniors and Seniors will host a STEAM training camp for Prek-5th grade students summer 2026. The student led camp will have elementary students explore construction, engineering, medical, and crime sciene investigation using teacher created kits. The Phoenix Fire Tech Club wants to expose students from an elementary campus before middle school, while learning to apply core subjects to real world problems.

The Phoenix's hope to inspire problem-solving, critical thinking, career awareness, and foster the spirit of community.

The school district does not fund specialized summer camps that are not tied to academic or attendance remediation. This camp would provide summer activities for at-risk, low social economic scholars at no cost to families. Households with multi-age children will be given priority. The scholars will be recruited from the lowest academic performing ES. The goal is have 100 campers (15 per grade level) particpate in the camp.

STEAM education is a method of apply hands on learning through real world problem solving. The carefully selected resources were chosen to provide guided instruction for the HS camp leaders, provide materials for 10 stations, only hands on grade appropiate activities where selected. The Teacher Created, Lakeshore, and Carolina STEM kits are familiar worksheets, charts, and resources found throughout ES classrooms in the district. These kits will allow for takeways of project reminders.

The books will be part of a literacy and STEAM inspiration station. At the conclusion of the camp each elementary school that had participants shall receive one book donation to their campus library.
