Help me give my students brain builders, seat cushions, beads and stamps to improve hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills and build their STEAM (Science, technology, engineering, art, and math) skills!
This is a very special school. It's a small rural public school up in the mountains surrounded by trees. The students are strong, nature-loving children who are held together by a tight-knit community and who have refused to let a massive wildfire take away their strength.
I'm thrilled to enter my third year of teaching and continue to make an impact on these incredible children within this community.
I strive to deliver a passion for learning, life, and individuality through art and social-emotional learning. These students are in for a special treat from this creative, progressive educator!
My Project
These materials will make a difference in my students' learning by allowing my first graders to learn hands-on. At this age, it is extremely important for kids to be creative and manipulate materials because it not only increases hand-eye coordination but motivation and excitement to learn as well.
Materials like, alphabet beads will be used for students to practice spelling sight words while making fun bracelets.
Additionally, many of these materials will also be used as part of my STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) unit. In this day and age, students need to work through the design and building process, as many careers require this type of thinking.
