I have an inquisitive group of 4th and 5th grade students! These students are curious, excited, and LOVE learning! When we can tie hands-on investigations into our learning, the energy in the class simmers with excitement! This DonorsChoose.org project brings together the opportunity for students to ignite their creative juices and engage in design, bring imagination to reality, and use critical thinking in science, art, and math. Whether we are innovating with art materials, learning about history, or bringing 2D paper and pencil ideas to a new 3D dimension, these project items will challenge my students to continue expanding their learning while developing 21st century skills. I am excited to present this project for our learning community.
My Project
My students are innovative, but don't always have the materials to demonstrate their creativity! They love working with a variety of art materials, designing, and producing work with paints and oil pastels; however, my students are living in a technological world where 2D ideas are becoming 3D realities.
Ensuring students have 21st century skills requires them to innovate with other technologies.
These skills will be developed with the 3Doodler. All of these project materials will add a new layer of learning to the curriculum. The 3Doodle Student kit provides materials for 12 students to work simultaneously. This kit includes 3Doodle pens, design pads, filament in a variety of colors, and learning blocks to use with filament. Students use paper, computer, and/or learning blocks to design their 2D idea while thinking in 3D construction. Using the constructed pieces, students build their 3D creation. The teacher kits provide two additional pens, filament, learning blocks, and lesson plan ideas to inspire student creativity at various levels. My students are excited to explore new opportunities with a focus on 3D innovating, designing, and constructing.
In conclusion, this new 3D digital art medium supports student learning across the curriculum, providing new innovative opportunities to bring their creative ideas to reality. These project materials support student learning regardless of the curriculum topic: science, math, social studies, health, language. An infinite number of 3D projects can be designed and created using student innovation. Students will learn how to take their creative ideas, construct with the 3Doodle, and see their project ideas in full 3D reality.
