I serve twenty-seven kindergarten students who live in the heart of the mountains of Kentucky. They are bright, energetic, and very eager learners. They are at a critical time in their lives, the beginning stages of reading, math, and developing socially. I strive to make learning fun and engaging for all of my students. It is such a joy to watch as they gain new skills. Since kindergarten is the springboard for knowledge, I want to ensure that my students will be prepared for the future.
My Project
As a teacher, it is my responsibility to help my students meet their academic goals. It is also my responsibility to help meet their essential needs.
Since we live in the mountains of Eastern Kentucky, we can experience some brutal winter weather.
My students need toboggans and gloves to keep them warm as they wait for the bus. With the toboggan and gloves, I can be assured that my students essential needs are being met as well.
My students' essential needs are a vital part in their learning process.
