Typically over the summer, students are not doing any school work. This leads to what we call the "summer slide". Students often forget things they have learned to do or how to solve problems. This happens because they are not practicing what they have learned each day like the do while they are in school.
This project will help their minds stay sharp on all the skills they have learned during the school year.
The workbooks will have them practice skills in math, science and social studies. This will help them stay ready for first grade. The workbook also includes reading activities to help them continue practice their reading skills like decoding.
The materials will all go in a backpack with each child's name and they will take it home the last week of school. We have done these bags in the past and the students are so excited to take these bags home.
