This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My first-grade students are excited to be returning to school to learn together this year. They love sharing about their families, their hobbies, and their hopes and dreams. They are silly and playful and anxious to connect with each other after our pandemic year.

First graders are full of enthusiasm for learning, curious about the world around them, and eager to share their observations and stories from their lives.

They love to explore favorite authors in reading, tell stories from their lives in writing, and learn new math and science concepts.

The majority of students in my class come from low-income backgrounds. School is a safe place for them to learn and grow together and to create a supportive community.

My Project

The project will benefit all four first grade classrooms at our school (serving almost 80 students). We are requesting cleaning supplies (hand soap, paper towels and disinfecting wipes) to help keep our classrooms germ-free, as well as masks and hand sanitizer to keep our students safe from the coronavirus this winter.

Our first grade students have become pros and washing and sanitizing their hands and wearing their masks to keep each other safe at school.

However, our cleaning and safety supplies are running low. Students often need to change their mask during the school day and don't have an extra mask from home. We eat in our classrooms and are careful to sanitize our desks and our hands often to keep everyone safe during the time this time that we spend together.
