My Students
My scholars give me purpose and strength to always push through. I teach at a school that is considered low economic and disadvantaged. Most of my scholars are limited to their neighborhood, meaning they usually don't have the opportunities to observe or see a positive environment. Most live below the poverty line and see a lot of criminal activity on a daily basis. I want them to know there is a whole world out there beyond their current circumstances.
The impact of the COVID 19 pandemic has presented many challenges for my scholars, from a psychological as well as emotional standpoint.
However, I am instilling in my scholars “what doesn’t break us only makes us stronger.” Some are without the day to day necessities, they so desperately need. Due to the financial strain, their families are facing. So, I want my scholars to come to school feeling like this is their safe haven (no worries) and focus on learning with a growth mindset. I want to inspire them to push through their circumstance and to NEVER GIVE UP. My scholars are the FUTURE that will change the world.
My Project
As a math teacher, I want to give my scholars the necessities needed to be and to do better, the use of the dry erase markers will aid the scholars with small group activities when working out math equations. The privacy folders will assist scholars with testing taking as well as build their self-confidence by creating a no interruption space.
With all the health concerns in the world at the present time, having hand sanitizer and tissue helps with keeping my scholars healthy and focused on learning.
The classroom set of Magnetic Sentences will help me establish organization among multiple math classes when creating daily objectives and a student-friendly environment for work assignments.
