My Students

Our school is a designated Title I campus, with over two-thirds of our students being English Language Learners. Very few of our students have attended prekindergarten or HeadStart. We are located in a rural town in a small, county-wide school district. Access to food, clean clothes, and other necessities, as well as to technology and school supplies, is drastically limited for my students.

Our Early Childhood/Pre-Kindergarten students come from a high-poverty, diverse community.

Our classes are filled with many students who have not been away from their family until coming to school. The students come eager to learn, but unsure how. Many behavioral challenges are due to not knowing what is expected in a formal school setting.

Due to the socioeconomic levels, we are a Title I school with a high rate of free or reduced-price lunches. We speak many different languages, but all desire to learn no matter the subject.

My Project

My Early Childhood students are at school for two hours and forty-five minutes a day. During that time we learn, play, socialize, and acquire life skills. One way our day is constantly interrupted is by students asking if they can get a drink of water. Last year I purchased water bottles from a local big box store, but the lids were extremely hard for the kids to close and water was constantly being spilt.

This year I would love to gift each of my wonderful World Changers with a CamelBak water bottle that will last for not only this school year, but years to come!

I will use the vinyl to label each of their bottles with their names. We can take these out to recess, on field trips, and grab them easily for snack time. I want to teach the healthy habit of drinking water from Day One!
