Bad weather is no joke! So far this school year, students in my class and school have been impacted by two major storms, one being Hurricane Idalia. These storms caused significant damage to our neighborhood and community (uprooted trees, loss of power, damaged homes, etc.) and missed school and instructional days.
Now, when there is a storm (big or small) some of the students are anxious, scared, and worried about their safety, home, and belongings.
I need activities to ease their anxiety and help them refocus on their work. I would like to provide my students with calming materials like fidgets, coloring/drawing materials, or even games to get their minds off the weather and feel safe.
