My Project

As an elementary music teacher, I am privileged to see every student at our K-5 school. We sing together, move, dance, listen to a wide variety of genres, and play percussion instruments. Our students come from diverse backgrounds ethnically and economically, with most of our students receiving free and reduced lunches. They enjoy the hands-on learning that music class provides and enthusiastically participate, especially when instruments are involved. Playing a string instrument has been proven to boost brain power, strengthen fine motor skills, decrease stress, and improve emotional well-being!

Our school has ukuleles for half of a class, and I would love for every student to experience making music together!

It's especially rewarding to see a student who struggles academically have a natural knack for music, and this is the case for many of my students!
