Stay Safe and Stay Reading!

Help me give my students books to read while they stay home and stay safe. I will make arrangements to deliver books to students front porches to keep them reading.

My Students

I am the proud teacher of a kindergarten classroom of 25 student. My students come from all walks of life as we are a rural school yet a short distance from some bigger suburban schools.

There are students who come from single parent homes, blended and traditional families.

I have students who go home to sit in front of the television because parents are tired from doing two jobs to make ends meet, while others go home to clean the chicken coop or ride horses as well as those who go home and head out to sports and dance events.

Regardless of the environment they come from, they all come to school eager to learn, enthusiastic to interact with and build relationships with their peers and school staff.

My Project

We are requesting books my students will read while they stay home and stay safe. I will package up bundles of books and deliver them to the porches of my students so they can continue to read while we stay home during this pandemic.

Some of my students can read books online at present but others don't have access to the internet or books to read.

The libraries are closed. There's nothing like having books in hand to read and share with family. I am keeping in touch with my students on a daily basis so can follow up with them on the books they are reading. I want to continue to connect with my families and this will be another way to do this. I would love to be able to let my students keep these books even after we return to school!
