Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

The saying 'Stay ready, so we don't have to get ready" resonates deeply with me as a teacher. I am always thinking about what's next for my students across all learning environments.

Teaching Computer Science in the building and Community and Career Prep while navigating the CTA and at the internship site forces me to be creative in my planning.

I have been teaching for about 7 years now and every year there are emergent student needs to be addressed. With that knowledge and insight, I try to anticipate their needs and wants so that we are prepared for most things. So while I am preparing to close this year out, I am actively preparing for the upcoming year.

The items in this project are a combination of laminating sheets (a MUST for teachers), wallets for all students (they need a functional way to store their money), and pocket watches (perfect for students in food service to manage their time). Any donations and or sharing of this project will help make these items available to my students for next year.
