Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Summer learning loss has proven to be a reason why students don't do well, especially those in our Black, Latino and Asian communities. Though we often think of it as reading and or instruction, summer learning loss is as simple as the experiences that students don't get to have due to socioeconomic backgrounds.
This is why we want to make sure to offer fun and enriching activities at our summer program.
We hope that by offering activities, including pickle ball and toss and catch, that are a little different from what they may be used to, they will build memories of having had fun experiences with their peers and teachers. These experiences will not only help them gain motor skills, and fond memories, but the positive experiences will bridge the gap between summer learning loss, while staying active!
