Stationary Library Catalog: Bringing Books Closer to Students

My Project

Our students are curious, creative, and eager to read—but many of them don’t always know where to begin. As a librarian, I often see them wander through the shelves unsure of what to choose or where to look. They thrive when given tools that empower them to explore independently and make choices that reflect their own interests. With diverse backgrounds and a wide range of reading levels, these students need access to user-friendly resources that build confidence and literacy.

This project will fund a stationary library catalog station—a designated spot in our school library with a desktop computer where students can search our catalog and locate books quickly.

Many students are hesitant to ask for help or are unsure of how to find what they need. A self-service station allows them to look up titles, genres, authors, or subjects with ease and independence.
