Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My fabulous first graders are the most precious and deserving kiddos that I know. They come to school each day with a smile on their faces and eager to learn. They love to use technology in the classroom and engage in hands-on work stations.
Our school is a Title 1 school which means a large portion of our kiddos is receiving free or reduced lunch.
However, this does not stop them from always trying their best in school. Although they all come from different backgrounds they all come together in the classroom to create a positive atmosphere and strong family bond. Imelda will not stop us from achieving all of our goals!
My Project
Station time is one of the most important times during the day. It allows students the opportunity to practice concepts that we have been learning and gives them time to work with their peers to review standards previously taught. We need a new couch for our library station to make it a more cozy space to read as opposed to reading on the floor.
We also need new literacy centers that are easy to use to improve fluency which will, in turn, improve comprehension.
The splash games and CVC word match will be a center where students can practice decoding words. The math cards will be a review station where students can constantly practice their math skills so that they stick. Lastly, the easel and story wands will be used during small group instruction which takes place during station time.
